Last week’s countdown has now come to a close, and Apple Music’s “10 Years of Apple Music: Top Songs” playlist is now available.

Apple Music has officially closed out its 10th anniversary celebrations by revealing the 500 most-streamed songs in its history. The final “10 Years of Apple Music: Top Songs” playlist is now live, offering an insight into what tracks have been on repeat since the platform launched in 2015.

Over the course of last week, Apple released 100 tracks per day as part of a five-day countdown. It was a rare move from Apple Music that doesn’t typically reveal much in the way of streaming stats, giving artists and fans alike a clearer picture of what’s really been popular over the past decade.

Who made the top 3?

At the top of the list lies Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”. The track still holds the record for Apple Music’s biggest first-day streams for a pop song and topped the Top Songs chart in at least one country for over 1,000 days, according to Variety. Ed spoke with Apple Music about the track’s milestone:

No.2 went to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights”, which racked up over 180 days in the Global Daily Top 10 and helped him secure the most R&B/soul entries in the top 500 with nine in total.

Drake took third with “God’s Plan”, which now holds the title as Apple Music’s most-streamed hip-hop song ever.

At third place was Drake’s “God’s Plan” which is the highest streamed hip-hop song in Apple Music history.

Dominating the charts

Speaking of whom, Drake holds the most tracks in the top 500 with 27, and 39 if you include guest appearances. Taylor Swift is the next highest-ranking lead artist, with 14 songs in the list and her highest track “Cruel Summer” entering at No. 57. However, Lil Baby is above Swift when you include guest appearances, coming in with 20 total appearances on the list.

Genre-wise, there are some fun takeaways:

  • “Old Town Road” is the highest-ranking country song at No. 60
  • Mariah Carey’s holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is the only Christmas song to appear, landing at No. 100
  • Billie Eilish has the most alternative entries, with nine songs making the cut

Wrapping up Apple Music’s 10th anniversary

The end of the countdown marks the end of Apple Music’s wider 10th anniversary celebrations– which included special live radio programming throughout last week, the launch of a new creative LA studio for artists, and a new “Replay All Time” playlist that lets users see their own most streamed tracks of all-time on Apple Music.
